Left brain loves Madre Labs Unscented Hand Cream
If you’re looking for a cheap-and-effective hand cream, I’ll recommend the Madre Labs Unscented Hand Cream With Argan Nut Oil. It usually costs US$6.71 but is going for US$2 if you purchase it with any bath and beauty products at iHerb.com for a limited time now. It’s a full-size tube weighing 71 g and while it is not the best hand cream around, it is definitely a good promotional buy. In fact, I scored it for free when I got it last month.
Formulated with NO No-No’s
Many of you may not have heard of Madre Labs, which is a US-based company that has been around for many years but was only formally established in 2008. The founding team members have over 40 years of combined experience in the natural products industry and and are well versed in natural foods, herbs and nutraceuticals that can help support optimal well-being. I started consuming their supplements and this is the first product I’m using from their green personal care range, which is formulated with “NO No-No’s”, meaning the products are without sulfates, parabens, dyes, animal testing or animal ingredients.
Formulated with many select oils
Containing Argan Nut Oil plus a premium blend of select oils such as avocado oil, coconut oil, olive oil and sesame oil which are rich in essential fatty acids, this concentrated hand cream is formulated to nourish dry and damaged skin.
Here’s the full ingredient list: Argan nut, jojoba*, sesame*, avocado*, olive* and coconut* plus shea butter*, water (aqua), cetearyl alcohol (plant derived), glycerin (plant derived), carthamus tinctorius(safflower) seed oil, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter)*, glyceryl stearate (plant derived), isopropyl palmitate (palm oil), simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil*, persea gratissima (avocado) oil*, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil*, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, argania spinosa kernel (argan) oil, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice*, punica granatum (pomegranate) extract, euterpe oleracea (açaÃ) fruit extract, lycium chinensis (goji) fruit extract, hippophae rhamnoides (seabuckthorn) fruit extract, polysorbate-60 (plant derived), cetyl palmitate, cetyl esters, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, tocopherol (antioxidant), sodium PCA, glycerin (natural derived), alanine (l-alanine), proline (l-proline), serine (l-serine), threonine (l-threonine), arginine (l-arginine), lysine (l-lysine), Glutamic Acid (l-glutamic acid), xanthan gum (natural thickener), citric acid (naturally derived), gluconolactone (corn derived preservative), sodium benzoate (plant derived preservative). * Certified Organic ingredient.
Creamy but non-greasy
I quite like this hand cream because it performs according to its claims. In terms of texture, it feels creamy and somewhat heavy on contact but is not greasy. Yet, the formulation is created such that the cream blends into the skin almost immediately, leaving my hands well moisturized and silky. I guess some people like their hand cream unscented but I prefer mine to emit some lovely aroma. It’s really a personal preference but like I mentioned before, anything that appeals to my nose appeals to my brain. But if you prefer an unscented hand cream, this might do for you.
A left-brain product
I think it is a decent hand cream for the price point. I’ll classify this as a product that appeals to the left-brain: affordable, functional and safe. However, it has little or maybe no effect on the right brain, at least not mine. There is also nothing exciting about the packaging apart from the fact that it is eco-friendly. So all things considered, I’ll say this is just a plain old normal hand cream that can probably serve most people quite well especially going by the excellent rating by 507 reviewers at iHerb.com.
