VMV Hypoallergenics So Fine Pressed Powder
Originally, I was thinking of trying out the VMV Hypoallergenics liquid foundation but after going through the ingredients and being concerned that it might turned out too drying for my skin type, I decided to pick up the VMV Hypoallergenics So Fine Pressed Powder instead. This product is validated as hypoallergenic and is free of fragrance, dye, phthalate and parabens. It is also indicated to be non-comedogenic, non-drying and suitable for all skin types.
Hypoallergenic rating
For those who have not heard of VMV Hypoallergenics, you can read my introduction to this cosmeceutical brand with the world’s only validated hypoallergenic rating system here. They’re not a natural brand but they do have products that are USDA certified organic. In the case of this So Fine Pressed Powder, it isn’t.
Ingredients
Mica, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Talc, Aqua/Water/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Glyceryl Laurate, Triethanolamine, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, *Tocopheryl Acetate, Calcium Carbonate, Zinc Oxide, Zinc Stearate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Ascorbyl Palmitate, Retinyl Palmitate. May Contain:CI 77491, CI 77492, CI77499 (Iron Oxides).

I was a bit dismayed that this product contains mineral oil and retinyl palmitate. Granted, they’re at the end of the list but I do wish they’re totally absent. And I’m also a bit surprised that this product is stated as preservative free because it has a long shelf life of 3 years. But since this is a dry product, the incidence of bacteria contamination is obviously lower. I also think the Tocopheryl Acetate is keeping this product safe during the given shelf life.
Performance
Performance wise, the VMV Hypoallergenics So Fine Pressed Powder lives up to its promise of providing a sheer and light coverage with a super-soft finish. It’s not drying for me and neither does it cake nor streak at the end of the day. I wouldn’t rave about this powder really but I kinda of like using it over my liquid foundation.
Luxurious packaging
But what I really like about this product though is the packaging – the compact powder comes pack inside a small white zipped case that reminds me of jewelry. In fact, when I first opened the box, I thought I’d purchased a precious jewelry instead of a pressed powder. A very nice touch that I believe will appeal to most ladies too. Oh, and something else worth mentioning is that one side of the powder puff accompanying the pressed powder is made in a material that can stick to the mirror. I thought that was clever too because the powder puff wouldn’t drop out too easily.
Price and availability
The VMV Hypoallergenics So Fine Pressed Powder is priced at S$55 and available at their VMV Hypoallergencies Skin-Specialist Boutique located at #B3-48 ION Orchard. I’d redeemed the item with a media voucher and while I don’t mind using it for now, I doubt I’ll purchase the item with my own money. I think it’s an above the average performing product but just that given the multitudinous choices in the market, I’ll probably put my money elsewhere. However, coming right up is another product I’ve gotten from the store and that one I love. So do keep a look out for my review!

Not really a fan of pressed powders because I don’t like the matte look on me. I’m really thin so when my face is matte, I look dry and sick.

I’m not sure…it might depends on the individual. Apparently, their products are made to be less irritating though.
