Buds for Kids: organic skin & haircare I can use too

I was kind of surprised when Eric of Bud Cosmetics wanted to send me these new products for review. Maybe he read that I was looking for a new shampoo and shower gel for my son after I finally gave up on Baby Bee? Anyway, it’s no secret that I share stuff with my son, particularly his shower gels. He doesn’t use my stuff though because well, he’s still a kid ya so those I use may not be suitable for him. But whatever he uses on his skin is good enough for me. (#k8SjZc9Dxk_#k8SjZc9Dxk)

Natural & Organic cosmetic certified according to ECOCERT standard
Buds for Kids by the way, is made in Malaysia. Yep! It’s from the same people who made Buds Baby products. Nearly 100% of the total ingredients in these products are from organic farming and so the products are all certified by ECOCERT Greenlife conforming to ECOCERT standard. The first thing that caught my eye was the design on the packaging – so colorful and cheery!

Buds for Kids: Orange Shower Gel 250ml S$17.95

Ingredients: Aqua/water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, decyl glucoside, sodium lauroyl glutamate, xanthan gum, citrus dulcis (sweet orange) oil*, parfum, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, tocopherol, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil. *Ingredients from Organic Farming. Parfum made from essential oils

Okay, I gotta admit that I love this too. Well, citrus is a favorite scent of mine and this one is really full of the smell because it contains pure organic sweet orange essential oil. It’s a great scent for that perk-me-up either in the morning or after a long, sweaty day. It foams really well too so when I used this on my son and myself, we both felt really fresh and clean afterwards. Plus, my skin didn’t feel dry too so it’s truly nice.

Buds for Kids: Orange Shampoo 250ml S$19.50

Ingredients: Aqua/water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, decyl glucoside, sodium lauroyl glutamate, xanthan gum, PCA glyceryl oleate, parfum, citrus dulcis (sweet orange) oil*, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, tocopherol, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil. *Ingredients from Organic Farming. Parfum made from essential oils.

I didn’t try this because I think my hair needs a “more specific” type of shampoo. In any case, this one feels similar to the shower gel. In fact, the ingredients are very close and I thought they must as well just combine two in one because that’s so much more convenient and cost effective. But I guess there’s an obvious commercial reason for having two separate products huh?

Buds for Kids: Lavender Conditioner 100ml S$19.50

Ingredients: Aqua/water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil*, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) fruit*, PCA glyceryl oleate, xanthan gum, tocopherol, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil*, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate. *Ingredients from Organic Farming.

The orange shower gel and shampoo are for the boys while there is a lavender range for the girls. However, the company only made one conditioner in lavender for both boy and girls. The real deal is, young boys don’t really need to use a hair conditioner as often as girls for their short hair is naturally quite soft. In addition, the shampoo is quite mild so it doesn’t dry nor tangle up the hair either. However, I did use the conditioner for my son and he loves the lavender scent too. More importantly, he loves how smooth and soft his hair felt afterwards. I can also use this too for it works well for my short hair.

Build eco awareness in kids
According to the company, Buds for Kids is a range of toiletries created just for the environmentally aware kids of today. Well, seriously, I don’t know about that because I don’t think my son is really environmentally aware because I’m the one making all the decisions as to what products he should use. I started him on organic bathing products since he was a baby but I’ve never bothered to educate him about it. So he has no idea what ECOCERT means of course and he doesn’t care for the ingredients; the only thing that affects him is the smell. He loves this range because he said they make him smell like a walking orange. In his words, “I’M A FRUIT!”

Overall summary
Personally, I enjoyed bathing him in these products primarily because of the scent. Plus, they feel gentle to the skin and yet, foams well enough to remove all the dirt and perspiration. Definitely good for smelly little boys! The range, in my opinion, also isn’t so pricey. In fact, I would say the prices are reasonable compared to other organic range for kids and so I’ll be happy to replenish these in time to come for him and me. (~_#k8SjZc9Dxk)

  2. Jackson says:

Children skin are very tender and sensitive. Hence their skin should be taken care with organic beauty products which is harmless to their skin.

  3. sesame says:

Might be cheaper but not exactly sure if the prices are uniform at the stores as based on some online stores, they’re selling the shower gel at MYR$25.90 and the shampoo at MYR$33.90.

  4. sesame says:

    Yeah, the gentler the better.

I think I might have seen buds for kids range at Ntuc finest at thomson plaza too under the organic food section. Not too sure but definitely have seen the buds baby stuff there.

  7. sesame says:

I remember seeing Buds Baby products there too. Haven’t been to the Thomson outlet for awhile so not sure if they have Buds for Kids. Would be great if they’re available there too. I understand the range is available at all Mothercare stores in Singapore too.

  8. sesame says:

Oh that’s nice to know. I’ve never tried the baby range before.

  9. Buds Organics says:

    Hi Sesame

Thanks for the great review. I just wanted to comment on the difference between the Shower Gel and Shampoo. You are right that the ingredients are similar. The main difference is the plant based conditioner in the shampoo. This leaves the hair soft and tangle free. If this is used on the body you don’t feel quite so clean. There are also some subtle differences with the quantities of the plant cleansers.

    Thanks again!

  10. sesame says:

Thanks for highlighting the difference. I did notice them but since it’s only a slight difference, perhaps you can consider formulating an all-in-one for kids as that be more convenient.

Hi I’ve a really oily scalp and dry hair. My hair has been dropping ever since then. Can I know what shampoo would you recommend me because after reading so many reviews, I just can’t make a choice! Thanks ?

  13. sesame says:

What shampoo do you currently use? It’s best to use one without SLS. And try not to use one with conditioner included.

  14. Crystal says:

I’m currently using Klorane oat shampoo. Even after washing my scalp, it is still oily.

  15. sesame says:

Never tried that oat one…I’m guessing it doesn’t foam too well?

  16. Soo says:
