Bottle nipple liquid cleanser to wash brushes

I had thought that I needed new face brushes but it turned out, there’s no need to purchase anymore! Thanks to all of you who have responded to my post last week, I found a solution to my problem of oily brushes! It was an issue with the cleanser I used and after using some of the solutions mentioned, my brushes are back to being fluffy again! So what did I do?

I went out to grab a small bottle of Pigeon Bottle Nipple & Vegetable Liquid Cleanser as suggested by Berry and also a bottle of makeup sponge cleanser from Diaso mentioned by meandmyTHRILLS. Before I washed the brushes with the cleansers, I took on pf1123’s suggestion of double cleansing and washed my brushes with my Muji oil cleanser. After that, I washed the brushes with either Pigeon Liquid Cleanser or the Diaso cleanser, just to compare. The Pigeon Liquid Cleanser was a clear winner as I can feel the brushes rather squeaky clean even while washing them. In fact, I don’t really need to double cleanse my brushes if I use this. As for the Diaso one, it was definitely better than the Baby Bee’s Shampoo & Wash I used but not quite as effective as Pigeon’s.

So I’m definitely going to continue using Pigeon Bottle Nipple & Vegetable Liquid Cleanser to wash my face brushes henceforth. It is very gentle and doesn’t foam, but yet, it is able to cut through the grease and clear the oil from my brushes very well. And the best part is, a 200ml bottle only cost S$5.50 and you can find it easily in department stores selling baby stuff!

* Update: Pigeon Bottle Nipple Cleanser is tested to have a pH level of 6.

Ah… my favourite bottle nipple liquid cleanser….. You know, when it comes to very oily plastic containers that the normal dish detergent cannot do anything about, the Pigeon bottle liquid cleanser always comes to the rescue. Just soak the container in hot water and the liqud cleanser, it will be squeaky clean after wash.

I used it only to wash the bottles and never used it for other purpose. Time to keep one at home!

Haha, din know that ‘bottled nipple liquid cleanser’ can be used for other purposes. Enjoys getting ‘out-of-the-box’ tips from your blog ?

Hey! This is a great product! And so cheap!!! Cheaper than those brush cleaners. I will switch to this once the cleanser I use is finished.

    Thanks for doing the comparison!

I use my little girl’s Johnson’s Baby Shampoo to clean my brushes. It cleans them well. But I am sure those baby bottle cleansers would clean just as well, and it’s very mild at the same time. Well, if it can clean off milk curds and stains, it should be good enough to clean our makeup brushes. ?

awesome! finally you found your hg brush cleanser ?

This is a good idea! Vegetable cleansers and detergents are also good for sponges. ? I’ll be looking out for this the next time I’m at a departmental store.

  8. sesame says:

I didn’t know either. Thanks to the tipoff by Berry!

  9. sesame says:

    Yes, very cheap! I likey!

  10. sesame says:

I didn’t think it would be suitable…but it does a good job!

  11. sesame says:

I think those I used in the past all used cleansing agents based on coconut oil and tend to coat the brushes…

  12. sesame says:

Yeah, it should work for sponges too.

I bought the Daiso cleanser but haven’t used it yet. I’ve also read recommendations on using the Pigeon cleanser. I suppose it’s really good after your review.

  14. sesame says:

Yes, it works…the Daiso cleanser is not bad but maybe I needed to use a stronger cleanser as my brushes have definitely accumulated too much oil over the months…

  15. Wana says:

I use them everytime as hand soap!

  16. sesame says:

    You do? That’s interesting!

i don’t think where i live sell this product…i never heard of it… aside from that i used dish detergent & olive oil to wash my brush… it was just dry this morning & i used the brush.. the brush is not oily but it’s extremely dry which is weird.. i feel like it’s hurting my face when i was trying to put some blush on…i had used shampoo in the past to wash the brush it wasn’t that dry…

  18. sesame says:

The dish detergent you use is most probably too strong. If your shampoo works, then go with that for even a facial cleanser. For similar products as Pigeon’s, look for detergent to wash baby bottles. They should be gentler.

Oh dear, I’ve bought the sponge cleaner made in Vietnam, in coral packaging. I hope it works as well for my brushes and sponges…
